Deposit of £2500
Below are some of the Frequently Asked Questions about the CAS Deposit
CAS Deposit
If you are an international student and need to be issued with a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) to enable you to apply for your student visa, you should pay a deposit to confirm that you intend to study at Loughborough University London.
How much is the CAS deposit?
We ask you to pay £2,500 to confirm you will be studying at Loughborough University this year and want us to issue you with a CAS.
Can I pay more than £2,500?
You can pay as much as you like, up to the maximum amount of your tuition fee. However, please remember that the deposit will only be refunded if your visa application is refused by the UKVI, so you should only pay it if you are certain that you wish to study with us and need a CAS for that purpose.
How do I pay the deposit?
You should pay your deposit through Flywire, a provider of global payment solutions. Flywire allows you to securely pay your deposit from overseas in over 140 currencies by bank transfer or international credit or debit card, and gives you the facility to track your payment from start to finish.
To access Loughborough University’s Firewire account simply log into the Application Portal, click on the programme that you wish to study with us and you will find a link to the deposit payment page.
I am a sponsored student; do I need to pay the deposit?
If your tuition fees are being paid by an external Sponsor (for example your employer or a government organisation) and you have already provided proof of this, you do not need to pay a deposit.
I am a US student; do I need to pay the deposit?
If you are funding your studies with a US Federal Loan or a Sallie Mae Loan, you do not need to pay a deposit.
I am doing an English language pre-sessional course, do I need to pay a CAS deposit?
The CAS deposit is only required when you wish the University to issue you with a CAS for a student visa. If you have already paid a CAS deposit and will be doing the online pre-sessional course, we will put the deposit against the tuition fees for your degree programme, and will issue you with a CAS when you have successfully completed the pre-sessional course.
If you have not yet paid a CAS deposit, you will be asked to pay a deposit towards the end of the pre-sessional course so we can issue you with a CAS for your student visa.
You will be asked to pay your pre-sessional course fees in full before you are able to register for the pre-sessional course. This is to ensure that students are not given access to course materials until they have paid their fees. The pre-sessional course fees are separate to the CAS deposit.
What happens when I have paid the deposit?
As soon as your deposit payment details are passed to the University from Flywire, we will start to produce your CAS, provided the start date of your programme is less than four months away.
Can I change my programme after I have paid my deposit?
No, your deposit is linked to the programme and the information on the CAS. You cannot change your mind after you have paid the deposit, so you should make sure that the programme you pay a deposit for is the one you wish to study.
How quickly will I get my CAS?
Your CAS will take up to five working days to be produced and emailed to you, depending on the time of year. We will be working hard to issue your CAS to you as quickly as possible.
My visa interview is in three days, I need my CAS urgently.
Get in touch with us and send us evidence of your visa appointment date. We will do our best to fast-track your CAS if there is a genuine reason why you need it quickly.
Is my deposit refundable?
We will only refund your CAS deposit payment if your visa application is refused by the UKVI. In all other situations your deposit payment is non-refundable, so you should only pay it if you are certain that you wish to study with us and need a CAS for that purpose.
If you are not able to take up your place at the University because of a travel ban imposed by a country’s government as a result of the coronavirus Covid-19, your deposit will be refunded. If you have paid a deposit but are unable to meet your offer conditions in full because you have been unable to complete your studies or take an IELTS test, we will do our best to make an alternative arrangement for you, or will refund your deposit. These will be looked at on a case-by-case basis, and more guidance on this will be published about this if necessary.
Do I need to wait until I am firmly accepted to pay my deposit?
No, you can pay the deposit at any time, but please note that your deposit is linked to the programme and the details on the CAS. You cannot change your mind after you have paid the deposit, so you should make sure that the programme you pay a deposit for is the one you wish to study.
What is the latest date I can pay my deposit? I am reluctant to commit to this at the moment.
If you are a postgraduate taught applicant and have been asked to pay a CAS deposit, the current deadline for doing this is 6 September 2020. We encourage you to pay the deposit as soon as you have been firmly accepted and are confident that you definitely wish to study the degree programme. If you are not sure, you can wait to pay. However, you should be aware that we will not issue you with a CAS until you have paid your deposit, so ensure you give enough time for you to obtain your visa before the start of term.
If you opt to start your degree programme in January 2021, the latest date for you to pay your deposit is 11 December 2020. However, we encourage you not to leave it too late, to allow enough time for you to obtain your visa before the start of your programme. Please remember most offices shut down in the UK for the Christmas and New Year holiday at the end of December.
I have some more questions, who should I contact?
